Ponoka RCMP were kept busy on Monday evening at two different accidents on the QE2.
Just before 7 p.m., officers were at the scene of a fatal collision on the northbound lanes of Highway 2, north of Blackfalds near Township Road 400 in Lacombe County.
At the same time just down the highway, RCMP were dealing with a 10-vehicle pile up on Highway 2 southbound, near Township Road 392.
No serious injuries were reported and the collision is attributed to poor winter road conditions, police said.
Monday saw the first snowfall of the season for Central and southern Alberta, leading to hundreds of collisions across the province.
Throughout the day, Mounties responded to numerous collisions along the QEII, but have not stated how many.
